Harmon Students Collect Data with Free State Students

In May of 2015, Harmon High School students from David Bennett's class participated in field work with FSHS AP Environmental Science students.  Together with the help of community volunteers, teams of students gathered data from ½ m x ½ m quadrats within each plot.  Students learned to estimate percent cover of bare ground, thatch (dead litter on the ground level), grass and sedge cover, and forb (non grass herbaceous plant) cover.  This data captured the heterogeneity of the field site and provided a baseline for future changes at the site over time.
